Quilt Registry at the Museum

On April 21 and 22, the  Kentucky Museum in partnership with Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society hosted a Quilt Registry at the Museum. Area quilt owners signed up in advance for the opportunity to bring up to two quilts for registration. Quilt owners supplied information about themselves and their quilts. Next, volunteers analyzed and photographed their quilts.

Quilt owners also received a muslin label containing a quilt identification number which they will sew to the back of the quilt/s.

KHQS will add the written record of the analysis to the KHQS archives housed in Library Special Collections at WKU where it will be available for viewing by researchers and by family members. Quilt information will also be uploaded into the KHQS online Quilt Registry database. A total of 42 quilts were registered over the two day period.

If you are a quilt enthusiast, remember the Museum’s current quilt exhibit, “Backward & Forward: 20th Century Quilts” on display through October 14, 2017.
