New Kentuckians exhibit opening August 28th takes a look at immigrating to Kentucky, specifically Bowling Green, through the eyes of children.
In 2001 Parker-Bennett Elementary School and the Kentucky Museum partnered in a English as a second language (ESL) project. Kentucky Museum’s Artist-In-Residence, Lynne Ferguson, worked with two classes taught by ESL teachers, Ms. Noy Briboune and Ms. Angela McIntyre. Children in their classes wrote and illustrated work for four booklets. The booklet topics were titled, How My Family Came to Bowling Green and Native Country Memories.
The stories and illustrations in this exhibit are reproduced from those booklets. In this interactive exhibit you are welcome to tell your story about coming to Bowing Green, Kentucky and your story will become part of the exhibit.
