In Case You Missed It: Hammer In!

This past Saturday the Kentucky Museum hosted our first Hammer In! This was a free family event that featured numerous metalworking demonstrations from the Appalachian Area Chapter of Blacksmiths, the WKU League of Sculptors and individual metal workers. It was coordinated by the Kentucky Folklife Program and the Kentucky Museum. Some of the activities present included Forge Demonstrations, Green Coal Class, Tinsmith Demonstration, Aluminum Pour Carving, children’s activities, an exhibit featuring pieces made by the metal workers, and a narrative stage by the Kentucky Folklife Program. During the narrative stage, Virginia Siegel interviewed multiple metal workers about their craft. This event was an action-packed, fun-filled day which the Kentucky Museum and the Kentucky Folklife Program hope to repeat next year. Check out some wonderful pictures of the demonstrators and visitors present!
