Creative Community Collaboration

The Kentucky Museum enhances the mission of Western Kentucky University and provides quality educational and cultural experiences for our campus and community. Our main website – with information about visiting, current exhibitions, and more – can be viewed here.

Our WordPress site extends our outreach to the virtual realm, providing Virtual Tours of installed exhibits, a blog highlighting our collections and curatorial research, and virtual research-based exhibitions produced in collaboration with students, faculty, and community members. As a gathering place to come to know and celebrate all we are as 21st century Kentuckians, we are proud to provide this virtual learning portal that continues our mandate as a place for “Kentuckians to know Kentucky.”

Our home, the Kentucky Building, was constructed in the 1930s through a “dime campaign” where Kentucky schoolchildren collected dimes in these tins to help fundraise for the building’s completion.
