White Oak Basket Exhibit Opening

Get ready folks, we will be unveiling our White Oak Basket Exhibit this week!

Baskets are made all over the world, reflecting the folk communities and environments from which they emerge. For generations of community members in and around Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave region, basketmaking has been a way of life. This exhibit of over 100 baskets explores the many facets of the white oak basketmaking tradition and honors the basketmakers, past and present, who have passed along their community-based knowledge to the next generation.

The opening reception for this exhibit will be held on September 16th from 6-8PM. This reception is free and open to the public, so come and join us! We will also have several programs in collaboration with this exhibit during September, October, November, and January. Stay tuned for program updates!
