We are preparing for our annual Christmas in Kentucky here at the Museum. The event is free for the public, and all of our exhibits are open and free as well. If you have not been to the Museum recently, this is the day to visit!
Each year we look forward to welcoming the community for holiday fun and festivities. This week our WKU student docents are trying on historical costumes and getting their station assignments. It looks like Santa’s workshop here in the Education offices!
I am not sure what my favorite part of CIK is every year. I love hearing the Treblemakers sing beautiful Christmas carols, and seeing the children with Santa and Mrs. Claus. And as an old Topper myself, I think Big Red is just the best–weaving his own special brand of magic. Speaking of magic, Mr. Magic, aka Steve Causey, always puts on an amazing show. All the ornament making up in the KY Room ballroom is just incredible . . . and there is also the delicious gingerbread and hot cider served up in the log house. I think ultimately my favorite part–is all of it!
I hope to see you Saturday, December 2nd from 11AM-2PM at the Museum. Drop in for a quick visit, or stay for a while. There will be plenty of parking available in the KY Street lot (look for signs).
Christmas in Kentucky would not be possible without the generous support of our event sponsor, Graves Gilbert Clinic.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season-
Christy Spurlock–Education Curator
